fashion: the supers reign over new york

Anna Wintour is a one woman machine on a mission to revitalise not only the world of fashion, but of our relationship with it.  Anna the editor in chief of US Vogue, and some would say fashion itself conceived last year the worldwide event ‘fashions big night out’ to kick start retail in the bleak economic environment, well this year she not only went bigger she went better with ‘fashions big night out; the show’

Credit is due to Anna Wintour and her staff for organizing the large-scale runway show in the plaza of Lincoln Center on Tuesday night that, for 1,500 ticket-buying guests who paid $25 to $400 for a seat, quite accurately portrayed what the actual experience of attending Fashion Week is like on the inside: You had to wait around in the 81-degree heat for an hour and a half before the start of the show, which lasted exactly 15 minutes.

It was, undeniably, a major fashion moment, if not simply for the mix of such talent, celebrity and a cloudless sky over the Lincoln Center campus. At 7:30 p.m., a double-decker tourist bus pulled up in front of the plaza, on top of which were perched the world’s reigning supermodels wearing Fashion’s Night Out T-shirts over designer ball gowns. Gisele Bündchen (above), Angela Lindvall, Karolina Kurkova, Coco Rocha, Lily Donaldson, Lara Stone, Jourdan Dunn, Caroline Trentini, Sasha Pivovarova, Adriana Lima, Chanel Iman, Karlie Kloss, Alessandra Ambrosio and Naomi Campbell stepped off this bus and marched through a crowd that was seated in nearly a dozen concentric circles wrapped around the central fountain.

Hats off to Anna, she just upped the anti’
