architecture: Detroit is legend

As a race humans are obsessed with legacy, desperate to carve out a niche in time.  To be remembered.  To those that this resonates with I say this – DO NOT book Detroit as your next vacation.

Shown here are images from photographers Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre detailing the complete decay that has set into what was at one stage one of America’s most glittering cities, a shining beacon for the American dream.  There are those who say that the events of the past decade show the American empire in a state of decline, though as these images testify the decline has been approaching since the 60’s . . .
