fashion: D&G send out the big chests for men in SS/12 . . .

24 Jun

Are you a D&G man?  Well chances are you might very well feel like one, but bigger chance is you probably don’t look like one.  Well that is unless you look like one of Milan’s finest models – especially if you’re planning on wearing next seasons look which is something like an ethnic safari – not we’re not entirely sure what it means either . . . but what we do know is that this collection is not for mere mortals.

Going back slightly on comments she made to Italian Vogue back in 2008 that she would never produce a collection for H&M as it would ‘confuse the brand’ Donatella Versace has laid out her plans for the next superstar collection for the Swedish discount retailer due to drop this Autumn, could it have anything to do with the rumoured 350 staff that have been laid off this year alone at the former powerhouse?

H&M announced its latest designer collaboration with one of the world’s most iconic fashion brands Versace following the latest bow of menswear for SS/12 in Milan. Launching in Autumn 2011 and designed by Donatella herself, the men’s and women’s collection will reference the heritage of the brand with Rock ‘n’ Roll influences – which will even spill over into some homewear pieces.  Donatella took to the catwalk last night following the Versace men’s catwalk show during Milan Fashion Week (above) to preview one of the pieces prior to the official announcement this morning.  Available from 17th November in 300 stores nationwide and online you can expect lots of leather plus a vibrancy of print, colour and exuberance.  Donatella has also designed a pre-spring collection for H&M that launches from 19th January 2012.

fashion: Chanel just got otherworldly

10 Mar

Leave it to Karl.  For weeks nobody has talked about anything other than the implosion of one of fashions brightest stars, every show from London to Paris vis Milan has been preoccupied with John Galliano and who may replace him at Dior, and yet again a masterstroke of genius in stage management by Lagerfeld left Chanel looking positivly out of this world, and the crisis over at Dior, well, frankly like yesterdays news . . .

fashion: Tisci, Elbaz named as potential suitors to the Dior mantel.

2 Mar

A troubled looking Galliano arrives at a Paris police station Monday morning, who knew less than 48hrs later the ultimate fashion golden boy would be looking for a new job.  Not since the greatness of Alexander McQueen has a man so talented seemed so haunted by demons, proving that a tortured genius is required to achieve that level of skill . . .

With style.com already stating fellow LVMH stablemates Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy and Alber Elbaz of Lanvin (formerly of YSL) both being named as potential successors it looks like things will be interesting at 30 avenue Montaigne for a while longer . . .
