photography: Lady GaGa for iD

19 Mar

i-D Magazine usually treats us to a visual feast, and the latest issue is no exception.  Here we share 2 of the 4 Spring 2011 covers starring the beautiful Anja Rubik shot by Emma Summerton, of course though it’ll be the GaGa cover that garners the most attention.

The Exhibitionist Issue has a strong art theme – A-list movie star James Franco swaps acting for art, Aaron Rose of Beautiful Losers fame discusses the cultural importance of street art and Ryan McGinley explains why he prefers his subjects as nature intended.  The issue is released on the 24th, so get to your newsagents now, and reserve your place in the queue.  Run along now . . .

video: Kate Moss in Dior addict shock!

The 90-second spot of Kate Moss’s commercial for the upcoming Dior Addict lipstick, which hits stores next monthhas leaked. Directed by Jonas Akerlund, who also did Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” music video, this film, too, centers somewhat on paparazzi: it starts with Kate Moss in a luxe hotel room before panning to her chaffeured car ride and the subsequent paparazzi scrum (which meets her as she exits to take in the Spring 2011 Dior show). Runway footage is included, but no John Galliano appearance, of course.

photography: Nicola Formichetti weaves his dark spell over Vogue Hommes Japan

11 Mar

AP. loves Vogue Hommes Japan.  That could be something to do with super stylist Nicola Formichetti who, as well as being art director to the formidable  Lady GaGa, and recently took over the reigns at Thierry Mugler, is also contributing editor to the magazine.

This month, the Japanese edition of Vogue Hommes bring seductive black and white shot styled by Nicola Formichetti.  Daisuke Ueda and Seijo Imazaki are the stars of a shot full of eastern promise, a fantastic creation from the hands of Steven Klein.

Eastern promise indeed . . .

fashion: everything Privé was missing . . .

1 Mar

Armani rose to the challenge at MFW to show that he still gets todays consumer, in fact more so than some of his contemporaries.  After the Privé show earlier this year which marked a massive departure for the designer, to a more modern silhouette, influenced some said by the designers fledgling friendship with none other than Lady GaGa.  This collection marked a return to the form we’re all familiar with, beautiful detailing, even romantic product.  Every girl is sure to wish they were in Armani this Autumn Winter . . .

fashion: v-magazine new york issue

2 Sep

Lady gaga as the icon of freedom?  It can only be V magazine’s New York issue.

V editor Stephen Gan of the pic, snapped by photographer Mario Testino: “Just as the Statue of Liberty was France’s gift to America, Gaga is, to us, New York’s greatest gift to pop culture and fashion…she has become a bonafide genius and we can safely declare her our muse.”

That’s some big talking, but for a girl who has quite safely assumed the mantle of the worlds greatest pop star in less than 3 years we’re sure that those words are entirely justified.

life: lady gaga // vogue homme japan

28 Aug

Doing nothing to a) stop those hermaphrodite rumours or b) slow down the pace of her full on assault on the worlds media.  Lady GaGa (or should that be Joe the Sicilian mechanic?) appears on the cover of Vogue Homme Japan.

And we at AP. have to say – she looks rather convincing as a man?  What do you think, can this girl work it as a boy?

life: lady gaga mania shows no signs of slowing down!

27 Aug

Around the world no pop-star has captured the imagination quite so fast or quite so deeply as Lady GaGa.  She has reached a level of meteoric pop super-stardom not seen since the Spice Girls and is so super talented she is making Britney Spears look like a second rate side show act, she has (without even trying) finished off Christina Aguilera’s attempt at a chart comeback and has created as many iconic images as Madonna in just 2 years.

Yet as the mad as monsterball tour roll’s on it seems that it’s ringmaster has showed no signs of slowing down – or indeed of letting her love for high fashion play second fiddle – as demonstrated by yet another 2 magazine covers.  This time for Vanity Fair (above) and British high style mag i-D (below).

This Lady is one that shows no signs of slowing down, or tiring her evolutionary image.  Of course when the results look this good – who would want her to.

Queen of twitter indeed, and long may she reign!
