We’ve spent our week obsessing over the final days of New York fashion week, and the launch of London fashion week.  Literally pouring ourselves over the images coming off the catwalks . . .

Dinner and breakfast at Home House the top London members club . . .

Getting ourselves all excited for our holiday to Amalfi next week – and looking over the photos we took last time, maaaaaaaaan we’re excited now . . .

Headed over to Selfridges lots in fact this week; Once for the opening of the new shoe galleries, where we got to see Sophie Ellis Bextor holding a giant mirrored shoe.  yup.  you couldn’t make that up!   Then again to see Beth Ditto launch her new pop-up store to showcase her second fashion collection in collaboration with UK plus sized retailer Evans . . .

Visited the Louis Vuitton Maison to pick up the new 2011 diary inserts for our large agenda, and to pick out some new sneaks’ whilst we were there, we’ll keep you posted on where we get with that one . . .

Headed to the Eurostar terminal at Waterloo.  No, we hadn’t lost our mind, not for a train, but for the latest Topshop Unique show, which was held (rather uniquely on the old train platform) stunning collection, Topshop pushing the boundries again . . .

Ran ourselves ragged heading over to Covent Garden to catch the last of fashion fringe, and the fashion fete, London is definitely swinging . . .

Finished it all off with dinner and cocktails at the Soho House outpost, BKB, lots of fun, and too many mojitos and watermelon martinis, but hey thats what weekends are for right???

So thats it. 7 days 1 week.  On to the next  . . .

The 35,000sqft gallerries play host to more than 55,000, yes FIFTY FIVE THOUSAND pairs of shoes, and for the Carrie Bradshaw’s out there thats a whole lotta shoe envy!  The galleries will retail 150 brands, with 30 brands creating exclusive ranges for Selfridges alone, and there are 11 designer boutiques from the likes of Christian Laboutin, Gucci, and Jimmy Choo dedicated to their footwear ranges, the Chanel area is modelled on Coco Chanel’s apartment in Paris.  “Imagine you are in a gallery”, Selfridges’ Director of Accessories Sebastian Manes, said to AP. “From the entrance you see a succession of doorways, and at the end a huge window flooding the space with daylight. Your journey begins at the front, with shoes from the best of the high street. Slowly you begin to travel through different galleries until you reach the end – the couture designer gallery, flanked by Chanel and Louboutin, and a vision of Eden – the new suspended garden at Selfridges. Shoe heaven!”

fashion: beth ditto is back, with her selfridges pop up store.

17 Sep

There are 2 phrases that are currently the most overused in the fashion/retail world.  The first is designer collaboration, and the second is pop-up store.

Over to Selfridges London then, where the two most overused phrased collided in the form of one almighty bang for the larger than life portly Portland singer, Beth Ditto’s, second designer collaboration with the UK based plus size chain Evans, which has been given the ultimate accolade her very own pop-up store in one of the worlds most famous department stores.

The second collection feels much more grown up than the first, in a move to avoid the same fate as her mate, Kate Moss, who has just had her collection kicked into the long grass at Topshop, and the lady herself seems very pleased with it, check out the photos of Beth (above) launching the new pop-up shop at Selfridges taken earlier today, below we’ve taken some snaps of the amazing looking store and the evans store just down the road on Oxford Street, pop-up indeed.

Beth is most certainly back.
